Music

Music for a wedding ceremony consists of:

  • 30 minute prelude while guests are seated.

  • Processional (walking down the aisle).

  • Music for religious ceremonies, as required (eg. Communion, candle lighting ceremony).

  • Music during the signing of the register.

  • Recessional (bride and groom leave together).

I can also play background music during cocktails or dinner.

Special requests for music not in the current repertoire may be accommodated, given enough time to learn new pieces. Please see rates below for more information.

Venue Considerations

I must have access to the venue one hour before I am to begin playing so I have time to set up and tune.

Venues which are not wheelchair accessible, and venues which are outside the city of Winnipeg will incur extra charges.

Outdoor weddings: As of 2019, I will only be playing outdoor weddings on my carbon fibre lever harp, as pictured to the right (or below on mobile). This harp is perfect for the outdoors! It is made of carbon fibre material rather than wood, so it offers the following benefits:

  • It will not be damaged by light drizzle

  • Stays in tune better in the heat and humidity, and colder days such as in May or September

  • Very light and easy to carry across big bumpy fields, up stairs, or wherever you need me to play

  • If it is very windy, I can lay it down if I need to step away from it for a moment

  • Although I would still prefer to play in the shade, if it isn’t possible it won’t be damaged by direct sunlight.

In other words, it means more predictability for you when planning your event.

Rates

The following rates apply to bookings made on or after Jan 1, 2023.

  • Wedding Ceremony only : $475

    includes prelude and ceremony music as described above

  • Wedding Ceremony and Cocktail Hour: $585

    includes prelude and ceremony as described above, plus one hour of background music after the ceremony at the same venue

  • Receptions: $325 for the first hour, $125 for each additional hour

    background music only. Anything up to one hour is $300; additional time is billed in 15 minute increments.

  • New Song requests: $185

    New songs not on my repertoire list must be requested a minimum of 45 days before the wedding, and will be subject to playability on the harp. Song requests must be paid in full before work on the new song begins.

Venues which are not wheelchair accessible, and venues which are outside the city of Winnipeg will incur extra charges.

Please note a $100 non-refundable retainer is required to confirm a booking. All rates include 5% GST.
